Mazu Poster

"Mazu" is a mythological and inspirational drama reflecting the life and deeds of Mazu. Using over 30 widely circulated folk tales about Mazu as its source material, it strives to portray a respectable, approachable, and lovable saintly Mazu, showcasing the profound Mazu culture and promoting Eastern maritime culture represented by Mazu. Unlike some previous mythological dramas that prioritized entertainment over social education, "Mazu" vividly and dramatically depicts Mazu's life, reflecting the long history of Mazu culture and its rich connotations of virtue, benevolence, and great love. Furthermore, unlike previous mythological dramas that portray characters as "born with magical powers," Lin Mo in "Mazu" is a mortal whose journey to immortality is a struggle from the bottom up. Over 30 folk tales, such as Guanyin giving a child, a year-long pregnancy, and obtaining a talisman from a well, will be interwoven into the drama, witnessing Mazu's journey of moving Heaven and attaining immortality.
