Using over 30 widely circulated folk tales about Mazu as its source material, it strives to portray a respectable, approachable, and lovable saintly Mazu, showcasing the profound Mazu culture and promoting Eastern maritime culture represented by Mazu. Unlike some previous mythological dramas that prioritized entertainment over social education, "Mazu" vividly and dramatically depicts Mazu's life, reflecting the long history of Mazu culture and its rich connotations of virtue, benevolence, and great love.
